The Quantum Book - Book Launch
event, upcomingOn Friday, May 8, SMAC Venice and OGR Torino launch the publication of the project The Quantum Effect, presented in 2025 at SMAC Venice and opening at OGR Torino in a new site-specific configuration in autumn 2026, during Turin Art Week. The Quantum Effect explores spatial and temporal paradoxes introduced by quantum theory: entanglement, superposition, parallel universes, teleportation, and dark matter. It positions artworks, films and scientific experiments with quantum theories and their symbolic representations in the form of equations assigned by Professor Ulf Danielsson, Secretary of the Nobel Committee for Physics. The publication is not an exhibition catalogue nor a traditional book. Shaped like the black monolith from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, it is an integral component of the show. The second instalment of the project presented at OGR Torino takes the mysterious form as its point of departure. It is both an object and a portal toward other dimensions and a recalibration of the nature of reality. It functions as a reminder of Arthur C Clark’s proclamation: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” The publication will be presented by Daniel Birnbaum & Jacqui Davies, curators and editors of The Quantum Effect. The publication has been made possible by OGR Torino.
Event by registration only.
